Article Proof Review Guidelines

Select the provided link in the email from the Publication Editor, or log in and access the relevant manuscript from the dashboard.

  1. Select the “About” link in the upper bar of the JAE webpage.
  2. Select “Submissions.”
  3. Select the “view your pending submissions” button.
  4. Select the relevant manuscript.
  5. Select the “Copyediting” tab.

Find the PROOF of the article in the "Copyedited" section at the bottom of the page. The file name is XXXX_Proof.docx. Note that the “XXXX” is the manuscript number.

Review the proof document thoroughly, following these steps:

  1. Ensure the following information is listed correctly.
    1. Author name(s), in order at the top of the first page.
    2. Author(s) information in the footnotes at the bottom of the first page (Not the page footer).
      1. Format for author information: [Name], [Rank/Position], [Department/Unit], [University/Institution], [email], [ORCID#]
        1. Enter email as an active hyperlink
        2. Enter ORCID# as an active hyperlink
    3. Corresponding Author is indicated with a "*" after their name in the footnotes.
    4. Information in the "Acknowledgments" section, as needed.
  2. Ensure the manuscript text is fully unblinded.
  3. Please use the document's 'Track Changes' feature for any formatting alterations or textual edits. This allows our editorial team to see and approve any proposed modifications.
  4. Ensure the following are listed on the manuscript and in the PKP system exactly the same:
    1. Title
    2. Author names and order
    3. Author emails
    4. ORCID
    5. Abstract (not in italics in PKP)
    6. References

The Journal of Agricultural Education employs a continuous publication model, publishing articles once an approved proof is received. Prompt feedback is essential to avoid delays; manuscripts pending feedback for over one month may be declined and will require resubmission.

After completing the review and the steps listed above, submit the final document in the "Production Discussions" section under the "Production" tab, following these steps:

  1. Select "Add discussion."
  2. In the list of participants, select your name and the Publication Editor.
  3. In the subject textbox, enter "XXXX_Proof Approved." (The XXXX is the manuscript number.)
  4. In the "Message" textbox, enter the following:
    1. A statement noting approval of the proof by all authors.
    2. The LinkedIn username for each author. This is used for social media promotion.
    3. Any other information you would like to share with the editors.
  5. Select "Upload File" in the "Attached Files" section. Submit this document as an MS Word file.
  6. Follow the instructions in the "Upload a Discussion File" dialogue box that will pop up.
  7. Select "OK" at the bottom of the page.
