Reviewer Criteria
Criteria for eligibility and selection for service as a reviewer for the Journal of Agricultural Education
- Employment and Educational Qualifications:
- The individual must be employed as a faculty member at a college or university or possess a terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) in disciplines related to the journal's scope.
- These disciplines include: Agricultural Communications, Agricultural Leadership, Extension Education, School-Based Agricultural Education, Teacher Education, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning/Higher Education, and related areas that support the agricultural sciences.
- Research and Publication Experience:
- The individual must have experience in conducting research within the related disciplines.
- The individual must have a track record of publishing research in the Journal of Agricultural Education or other reputable, peer-reviewed journals in the field.
- Reviewer Selection based on Indicated Expertise Areas:
- The individual must volunteer to be entered into the reviewer database by completing a profile on the Journal of Agricultural Education website.
- Reviewers are then assigned to manuscripts based on the expertise areas the reviewers identified in their JAE Profile.
- The Journal of Agricultural Education does not accept nominations of co-reviewers.

- Commitment to Journal Policies:
- Reviewers must agree to follow all policies and procedures set forth by the Journal of Agricultural Education.
- Reviewers must commit to adhering to the stated deadlines for completing reviews. Timely reviews are crucial for the efficient operation and integrity of the peer review process.
- Quality of Reviews:
- Reviewers are expected to provide thorough, constructive, and productive comments in their reviews. These comments should aim to improve the overall quality of the manuscripts and contribute positively to the scholarly discussion within the field of agricultural education.
- Reviewers must commit to making publication recommendations that align with the journal’s guidelines. Recommendations should be based on the manuscript's merit, relevance to the field, and adherence to the journal’s standards.

By selecting the reviewer role for the Journal of Agricultural Education, the individual acknowledges and commits to the following:
- They meet all the aforementioned criteria for eligibility.
- They will provide fair, unbiased, and constructive feedback.
- They will complete reviews within the stipulated deadlines.
- They will maintain confidentiality regarding the review process and the content of the manuscripts.
- They will provide a complete user profile as outlined in the Updating your JAE profile webpage.
- They will adhere to all JAE policies and procedures.
Reviewers play a vital role in maintaining the quality and integrity of the Journal of Agricultural Education. Their expertise and dedication ensure that the journal continues to promote excellence in agricultural education scholarship.
